From the 28th of September to the 1st of February, Mark Rothko, a modern painter born in Russia in 1903, elevated in New York an dead in his appartement after swallowed barbiturates in 1970. His paintings are rather ambigus. In fact, he represents squares af different colours. It is rather simple. MARK: 11/20
- on time (0/2)
- heading + link (2/2)
- libellés (1/2)
- resumé para (6/7)
- comment para (2/7)
A good start, especially your resumé para. You have succeeded in condensing quite a long article into a good-sized paragraph, using your own words and picking out the most important elements. Your comment para on the other hand is far too "light" to qualify as a real attempt at analysing the interest of the article. Perhaps you found it difficult because you are not sure how to link back to SES? The libellés didn't really help you as it is true there was only culture to link to. Nonetheless, I would have liked you to make the link with culture: what of the influence of culture on tastes and cultural consumption? what of social hierarchy in the access to culture? Think back to the work you did on social inequalities...
It seems that art and culture interest you. I'm more than happy for you to follow these interests in choosing your articles. However, I want you to use your brain to draw links that will be useful to your future SES bac. If you wish to select an article on culture or art each week, I will expect you to find a new point of sociological interest each week. For guidance and some ideas, you might wish to have a look at Chapter 4 in your SES manual.
